Looking forward to: I am looking forward to walking in the rainforest canopy, observing new plants and animals (hopefully a tamarin), meeting new friends and learning about a new culture.

Looking forward to: I am looking forward to being immersed in the most DIVERSE ecosystem on Earth and seeing the amazing animals, insects and birds that inhabit the Rainforest. I hope to record my experiences in photographs and sketches so that I can share my adventures with students, family and community so that they too may catch a glimpse of this vanishing treasure!

Looking forward to: I am excited about the chance to visit the Amazon and witness the local animals and plants, especially in the rainforest canopy. Meeting a shaman and learning about native medicinal plants will be an exciting experience to share with my students.

Looking forward to: I am looking forward to being in a whole new environment and seeing the Amazon River and Rainforest. I am especially eager to experience the rainforest canopy and see how the ecological niches change from the ground to the tree-tops so I can share this important biome with my Earth/Environmental Science and AP Environmental Science students back in North Carolina.

    We are thinking of you during your day of travel and the excitement of arriving in Peru tonight. We eagerly anticipate your first posting from the Amazon. In thinking about the upcoming Olympics, do athletes come from any of the villages along the Amazon or do they even know about the Summer Games?

    Beth, Can’t wait to learn about all the interesting experiences you will encounter. Take lots of pictures and I would love to see your drawings. The kids at Dixon Elementary will really benefit from your adventure. Lots of love and good wishes!
